Certain procedures viz vaccination, medical abortion require you to sign a consent form and may require you to bring a photocopy of your photo identity proof.

EMERGENCIES

For the doctor– Obstetrics, Gynaecology and pediatric often involves emergency procedures, surgical delays, and deliveries.

We ask you for your understanding and if we are running late or behind schedule , our staff may attempt to notify you.

ROUTINE PATIENT DELAY –

At Vaatsalya , we prioritizes the health and safety of each patient. We are committed to using the best clinical judgment for patient care. At times, our patients may experience urgent, time-sensitive, emergent issues. Some are very wonderful, such as the imminent birth of a baby. Some are less wonderful, such as emergency laparoscopy. At these times, our providers must prioritize the emergent case over routine appointments. Our staff will do their best to accommodate you, either by rescheduling, helping you feel comfortable while you wait, or re-directing you to another provider in our office. We regret any inconvenience this may cause, but if you experience an urgent need, you will be happy to know our providers will make you the priority!

INSTRUCTIONS / PREPARATIONS

BOWEL PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS

Bowel preparation is necessary prior to some surgeries to completely empty out the entire length of your intestine. • Complications can occur with an inadequate bowel preparation, so PLEASE make sure to follow the directions completely.

ON THE DAY BEFORE SURGERY

  1. NOON: begin a CLEAR LIQUID DIET • CLEAR LIQUID DIET. ONLY water, tea, clear broth, clear NON AERATED soft drinks , Apple juice, NO noodles, rice, meat or fat
  2. BETWEEN NOON -1 • DRINK 1 bottle of the BOWEL CLEANISNG AGENT
  3. BETWEEN 5PM – 6PM • DRINK the second bottle of BOWEL CLEANSING AGENT
  4. WATER you will get the best result if you DRINK several glasses of water in the afternoon
  5. DINNER MUST BE ONLY CLEAR LIQUID • DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO EAT OR DRINK AFTER MIDNIGHT THE NIGHT BEFORE • A few sips of water to take important medications is ok

C-SECTIONS AT THE HOSPITAL

INSTRUCTIONS

PLAN TO ARRIVE AT THE HOSPITAL 2-4 HOURS BEFORE YOUR SCHEDULED CESARIAN SECTION TIME • This will allow time for the hospital staff to complete all pre-surgery preparations and consultations for your delivery

When you arrive, go to the REGISTRATION DESK . Please bring your pre-natal records.

DO NOT EAT OR DRINK ANYTHING EIGHT (8) HOURS BEFORE YOUR CESARIAN SECTION . Doing so can push back your scheduled time and delay your hospital stay.

BLOOD WILL BE COLLECTED AND SENT FOR CROSS MATCHING IN THE NEARBY BLOOD BANK.

CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR RIGHT AWAY! IF AT ANY TIME BEFORE YOUR C-SECTION YOU START CONTRACTING, YOUR WATER BREAKS, YOU ARE BLEEDING OR FEEL THE BABY MOVE LESS FREQUENTLY YOU WILL RECEIVE A PHONE CALL FROM THE HOSPITAL CONFIRMING YOUR CESARIAN SECTION IN ADVANCE If you have any questions or need my assistance, please do not hesitate to call.

PRE-OPERATIVE INSTRUCTIONS FOR ELECTIVE SURGERY

NO FOODS OR LIQUIDS AFTER MIDNIGHT OR 8 HOURS PRIOR TO SURGERY

STOP taking ASPIRIN, ASPIRIN PRODUCTS, IBUPROFEN seven days (7) prior to your surgical procedure. ONLY take MEDICATION FOR YOUR BLOOD PRESURE OR MEDICATION TOLD TO YOU BY THE PHYSICIAN TREATING YOU. If a medical condition requires you to take medication the morning of your procedure, you may do so with a few sips of water FOLLOW any medication instructions given to you by the anesthesiologist the day of your procedure.

VALUABLES DO NOT wear makeup, jewellery .

RECOVERY After surgery you will be in the recovery room where you will receive constant care. • As the anesthesia wears off you may experience sounds louder than usual, blurry vision, dry mouth or chills. Your blood pressure will be checked periodically and you may have an IV or other tubes in place. These will be removed by the nurse.

PAIN: if you are in pain, do not hesitate to ask your nurse for medication.

At DISCHARGE, you will be given written instructions for use at home.

DISCHARGE: Because patients are going home the same day in a A DAY CARE SURGERY , as their surgery, it is important to ask questions about home care. The following activities will speed your recovery:– WALKING…be sure the nurse helps you the first time you get out of bed. DEEP BREATHING & COUGHING…this is very important. It expands the lungs, aids circulation and helps prevent pneumonia.
